Yaxu travelling: Knowing how everyday is formed by many hands
14th March/Mandarins with blue gloves
I was allocated a place for packing mandarins. I was wearing blue gloves and packing. The mandarins were for shopping centres. I wondered where it would go. They said, “The mandarins will go to Chiba prefecture”. I was surprised by the distance the mandarins would travel to. Then I thought the mandarins I eat every day would be packed by the people here too. That gave me a warm feeling. I was observing how they packed. They distinguish the size of the mandarins to construct puzzles in the plastic bags. I was amazed by how they treated the mandarins carefully. One time, I packed mandarin and I forgot one piece, one told me “You forgot one piece!”, so I tried to pack again with one more mandarin. it was difficult to put one more piece in the bag. I tried and tried to pack. And one Obachan told me “You are getting better, I’m sure that you will be better soon”. And whenever I packed, I showed the bags to her, and finally she told me that “200 scores!”. I felt very connected with her through the discipline.
14th March/Three wonderful Anamt’u’u
There are three members from a community workshop for deaf and blind people to guide the trip. The three ladies untangled the nervousness in the group. The three Anamt’u’u offered us ramen, tea, and doughnuts, and they were extremely patient and full of kindness.Their kindness was pure warmth without any pressure to give back. They enjoyed the trip as much as possible along with helping us, that’s what I felt. The balance was amazing I think. Their care appears not from any enforcement but full of hospitality.
14th March/Ground
We went to Senganen. I realised how different the textures of the grounds were. I saw how Hayato was surprised by the changes in the grounds. Hayato’s friends were taking his hand and describing the surfaces of the grounds. I was so amazed by the descriptions by hand. One of Hayato’s friends told me that it is difficult to describe some surfaces. After the conversation, I started to describe the surfaces of the ground by myself.I felt it was challenging to describe. How hard or soft do I describe this ground? Which texture is this? I was wearing shoes however, I felt as if I was walking with bare feet.
14th March/Stairs
Hayato stepped carefully one by one. The balance of stepping is difficult on certain stairs. Especially it seemed like the steps with different heights and hollows were difficult. Discovery that stairs have different characters.
