Yaxu travelling: Becoming together
15th March/ Nagisa san as Anamt’u’u
Nagisa san is a blind-deaf person talking in sign language but I don’t talk in sign language at all, however, I communicated with her by imitating tentacle language and did not have any interpreters. When I was reading how Nagisa san was expressing about foods by touching her hand, I was completely in a zone like becoming a strawberry, meat, persimmons, mandarins and so on. I felt warmth in my heart which was stimulating a well of tears. “Understanding” is not something like “Knowing the information the person expresses”, it’s more like “Becoming together”. After the conversation, I wanted to express my gratitude to Nagisa-san, so Mayumi-san interpreted my words to her. At that time, Nagisa-san had tears in her eyes, and my eyes were wet too. That moment was something very memorable from this trip for sure.
